This dish makes a wonderful appetizer that feels elegant and indulgent but is very easy to make.
I absolutely love fresh figs but they’re in season for about 30 seconds and usually very expensive. When I discovered that dried figs could be used to make fig jam I was elated. With just a few simple ingredients anyone can whip up a gourmet jam that can be used in a number of different ways. In this recipe the fig jam is placed at the bottom of a pie plate or baking dish and topped with caramelize onions and blue cheese then baked till warm and bubbly. I suggest you serve it with crusty French bread.
