Shrimp and Grits Recipe
A few weeks ago we made this Shrimp and Grits recipe in my weekly cooking classes and people loved it. Some of the people had eaten Shrimp and Grits before and for others it was their first time sampling this southern classic.
I developed this recipe while living in the south myself and experiencing authentic Low Country Shrimp and Grits first hand. Low Country cuisine is an institution in places like Charleston and surrounding cities. I made a pledge to order Shrimp and Grits anytime I saw it on the menu to fully educated myself on the various versions. I can tell you that there are many many ways to make shrimp and grits and almost all of them are ridiculously delicious.
In my version I use classic ingredients like wild shrimp and, fresh tomatoes, and spices sausage. This is all served over gooey cheesy grits. It’s warm and comforting, and full of flavor. To make a wonderful meal like this quality ingredients are really key.

When I make this, I usually make the grits in the Instant Pot. It saves a ton of time and allows me to focus on the shrimp component of the dish. If you would like to know how to make Instant Pot Grits, you can see my post here. I have also included methods for making them on the stove top.
